Straiton

Straiton is a village on the River Girvan in South Ayrshire, mainly built in the 18th century, but with some recent housing. Straiton lies in the hills between Kirkmichael, Dalmellington, Crosshill and Maybole.

The only pub in Straiton is The Black Bull with other notable points in Straiton are a tearoom, Blairquhan Castle open to visitors in spring and summer ( a location for the filming of The Queen starring Dame Helen Mirren) and a monument to Colonel Blair of Blairquhan overlooks the village.
