| Loch Ken Fishing![]() Fishing is popular both on and off the banks of Loch Ken which is renowned as one of Scotland's most prolific Pike and coarse fishing waters. Historically the largest Pike, caught in 1798, was said to weigh a massive 72lb. Permits can be obtained from local pubs and shops depending on the area you wish to fish. Annual Boat Registration fees: These are due for all motor boats visiting the loch, to register contact: Dumfries and Galloway Council, Planning Services Office, 4 Market Street, Castle Douglas (T: 01556 502 351). Please note: Owners of motor boats over 6HP MUST have their own third party insurance. Insurance documents MUST be shown in order to register. Current prices: Over 6HP - First reg £24.00 p.a. - Renewal £16.00 p.a. Under 6HP - First reg £16.00 p.a. - Renewal £8.00 p.a. Registration boards for inflatables £5.50 pair. Private Stretch Coarse Fishing We are pleased to be able to offer an exclusive mile and a half stretch of Loch Ken situated between Parton and Crossmichael to our customers. With a limited number of permits available throughout the year, this stretch of water is certainly not over fished. For great sport, whether for hard fighting pike or the illusive wild brownie, contact us for access to this superb stretch of the famous Loch Ken.
