Property Description

Delightful holiday cottage furnished and equipped to the highest standard, in order to provide extremely comfortable family accommodation close to the centre of the charming sleepy centre of the Historic Royal Burgh of Whithorn.

Whithorn is steeped in history with its roots going back to early Christianity.  Archaeological excavations have uncovered clues to its continuous settlement to the present day, including the Viking trading post and Whithorn School of Crosses which can be explored more at "The Whithorn Story".   The town itself provides varied shops, galleries, tea rooms and a pub.

The cottage is an ideal base from which to explore the unspoilt and beautiful SW Scottish Peninsula, with its picturesque coastal villages rich in local history, traditional pubs serving good food, superb sandy beaches, luxuriant gardens benefiting from the warm Gulf Stream & micro-climate.  The fishing village of the Isle of Whithorn is close to hand with opportunities for sailing and fishing and also a pub overlooking the harbour.

St Ninian's Cave is nearby and also worth exploring are the quaint little bookshops of Wigtown, Logan Botanic Gardens with its giant sub-tropical ferns and the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse.

Whether you want a relaxing, get away from it all holiday or are more interested in active outdoor pursuits such as fishing, walking, cycling/ mountain biking (with 2 of the 7Stanes trails nearby), golf including the delightful St Medan's course adjacent to the beach at Monreith. This is an ideal base for a memorable holiday, sure to please everyone!
