These hills, considered sacred by the Celts and still rich in legend, tower 1385ft over Tweed valley. The northenmost summit of three hills was the site of Scotland?s largest Iron Age fort, later adopted as a signal post by the Romans. Legend has it that the wizard Michael Scott created these hills, where Thomas the Rhymer received the gift of prophecy from the Faerie Queen, and where Merlin, King Arthur and his knights lie buried.
