Property Description

Moorhouse Cottage is located near the village of Abbey St Bathans in eastern Berwickshire. Surrounded on all sides by glorious views over rolling farmland it enjoys a secluded and tranquil position. The cottage is attached to the owners' family home, which dates from 1780, but is completely self contained and private. The cottage has its own, fenced, garden and there is space to park a car off the road. Refurbished in 2004, accommodation comprises sitting/dining room, bathroom with electric shower, fully equipped kitchen with microwave and dishwasher, one double/twin bedroom and one single bedroom. There is a double sofa bed in the sitting room. Heating is by electric radiators and a wood burning stove. Other amenities include washing machine, TV, video, CD/radio, games, books, videos and CD's. All bed linen and towels are provided. The kitchen comes stocked with tea, coffee, milk, porridge, cereals, bread, butter, jam, sausages, bacon, eggs etc for you to make your own breakfast. Evening meals and packed lunches are available by arrangement. The Providers are able to pick up and drop off within 10 miles for a small charge by arrangement. They have walked the Southern Upland Way and are familiar with walkers' needs. Maximum occupancy 5 people (twin, single and double sofa bed). No smoking. Well behaved dogs welcome. Cot available by arrangement. How to find Moorhouse Cottage: T junction half a mile east of Quixwood Farm. From the SUW, branch off the path at Grid ref. NT 766 627 just outside Abbey St Bathans on a signposted footpath opposite a ford over the Wear Burn, up hill through two fields for 3/4 mile to the house. By road from the A1 take the A6112 at Grantshouse signed towards Coldstream and Duns. After 100m turn right on a minor road signed to Butterdean and Quixwood. Follow this road for 3 miles to a T junction. The Moorhouse is the yellow house at the junction. From Duns follow the A6112 through Preston towards the A1. Turn left after Hoardwheel Farm on a minor road signed to Abbey St Bathans and Edins Hall Broch. Follow this road for just under 2 miles to a junction with a road from the right. The yellow house at this junction is The Moorhouse.
