Property Description

Smithy House is a traditional old Galloway cottage, some 500 years old, which was carefully renovated and extended in 1997, with emphasis on retaining its character. Each bedroom has either en-suite or private bath or shower-room and is equipped with colour television, radio alarm, hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities and thermostatic radiator controls. The original character of the traditional cottage has been retained in the bedrooms. The Threave Room, which is situated in the original part of the house, is a double-bedded room with en-suite shower room. The front window looks out across Carlingwark Loch, whilst the back window has a view over the extensive garden. The Douglas Room, which is also in the original cottage, is a twin-bedded room with private shower room immediately adjacent. The front window and back windows have the same views as the Threave Room over the loch and the garden. The Garden Room has a super king size double bed which can be converted into two twin beds. The room has an en-suite bath room and the window has a view over the gardens to the fields beyond. There is a comfortable sitting room for the exclusive use of guests and a pleasant and well-furnished dining room, where breakfast, cooked in the Aga with eggs from our own free range hens, is served.
