| Canonbie
![]() Liddesdale and the land around Canonbie was the territory of the infamous Armstrong Clan, which had the reputation of being the wildest of all the riding families on both sides of the Border. While the Border was dominated by the Armstrongs on the Scottish side, the Forsters and the Grahams held sway on the English side. There was a priory once at Canonbie, yet it was destroyed by the English in 1542. The stones were used in the building of Canonbie Bridge. Visitsouthernscotland.co.uk is committed to giving only the most up to date and relevant information about our region. We are currently looking for tourist and accommodation information about Canonbie to be contributed by the community and look forward to displaying it in the near future. ![]() |
